Me too. The exact wording of the newsflash was "President Kennedy has been shot and injured in Dallas, Texas". Then the TV schedule was abandoned as successive updates came from Dallas, until they announced that the president was dead. For much of the time as we waited for news there was no broadcasting as such - they just showed the

just looked at the BBC link

i had forgotten that programmes didnt start till around 1pm.

quite amusing now to see how things were done then,and to see how far we have advanced with technology etc.

I was in school, but the Aberfan disaster was far more immeadiate for me, as our teacher was Welsh and told the class what had happened, in tears. I will never forget that day.

Harry was born in Hoyland Common, he went to school with my father, I was sat with my dad when the news came through that Harry had died, it was 20th July 1989.

I was in the RAF at Wyton. It was a Friday and I was hitch-hiking home up the A1 with my WRAF girlfriend, when it was announced on the lorry's radio.
