powerhaus Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Anyone know of pubs that do decent veggie food? Want something above 'standard', an affordable treat.
willj87 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 The Fat Cat at Kelham Island has a vegan menu... but I'm not sure you'd find it above 'standard'. It's good cheap grub. At least the meat stuff is anyway!
jemson Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Old House and Forum on Division Street have both impressed me. Also the Rutland has some good stuff too.
daniel3982 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Noticed the Old Queens Head had a big Vege board when in there the other day. Haven't easten there though... Always enjoyed the food at the Rutland & Bungalows and Bears myself.
Spanadora Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 http://www.cross-scythes.com/ went for my birthday with the other half, its not a completely veggie menu but the coconut curry is worth it, its gorgeous!
DerbyTup Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Is Chesterfield too far? If not... http://www.redlionpubandbistro.com/index.php you won't find a classier place than this, with good food, in Sheffield.

willj87 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I am sure you will find it way, above standard. Sorry, didn't mean to offend!! I love the food there! What I was meaning, was that if the OP wanted michelin star style veggie food, then they'd be disappointed! It is however, fantastic great value pub grub.
alternageek Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 the rutland makes yummy food and usually has a veggievegan blackboard special on every day. i had the fried hallumi burger yesterday and was yummyyummy. im not a veggie though, but really liked it.

The OP is looking for vegetarian food, though, and the sample menu on the Red Lion's website doesn't appear to have any vegetarian main courses. To the OP; the Rutland is great, (especially the halloumi burger) but I don't think it meets your "above standard" requirement. I think that the Cricket Inn is pretty good, and usually has a few vegetarian choices. Also, not really pub food, but Platillos in Leopold Square is good and has plenty of veggie choice
