Exitleft79 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Such a Shame to see these animals poorly placed in what I can only say squalid conditions its more a prison for these animals people please rescue these animals from such a disastrous looking future before their time is shortened
spotty dog Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I didn't realise they still had animals at this unit..I thougt they were all at the new place in attercliffe.
Murphy Jnr Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I didn't realise they still had animals at this unit..I thougt they were all at the new place in attercliffe. So where have you been hiding for the last 5 years?
Lotti Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 The RSPCA is at Attercliffe, the council kennels are at Spring Street in the old RSPCA building. Sadly, as much as the staff care greatly for the dogs in the pound, the whole idea of the pound is to keep dogs off the streets, it's not a shelter as much as a street cleansing service. I have a great respect for the staff who work there and care, but can only do so much, because I'm not sure I could do it.
spotty dog Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 So where have you been hiding for the last 5 years? Why have I been hiding?...I Just didn't know they kept them in there...far from hiding I dropped a couple of dog coats off not long since but wasn't allowed in.they collected them at the door.

As stated above by Lotti, it was the RSPCA that moved quite a while back. Spring Street is now the Council Strays Dog Pound.

I know it's a weird place full of crazies. Apparently the overlord sends his minnions to collect bedding and gifts of food and toys brought by members of the public with instruction not to allow anyone in. But in response to the poster. It's understood that conditions are not idyllic but it serves a purpose. It isn't a rescue and far from being 'poorly placed' they merely clear up what the caring folk of Sheffield throw out as well as reunite escapees. Volunteer your services once a week and try to better understand what it is that they try to do.
Moonbird Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Such a Shame to see these animals poorly placed in what I can only say squalid conditions its more a prison for these animals people please rescue these animals from such a disastrous looking future before their time is shortened I wouldn't call it squalid, but ok it could be a fair bit nicer/better, its a shame, the staff care very much and do their best...change has to always needs to start at the top doesn't it?
namz Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 people are allowed in with appoitments to view dogs if they are wanting to adopt, sadly alot of people treat it as a zoo, this just winds the dogs up! the staff dont always have time to let people in to see the dogs without an appoitment, but i can assure you they do a fantastic job with what resources they have!
Krush Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 It's not ideal as most people agree, but had it not been for spring street I wouldn't have the most wonderful, loving sighthound and my other furbaby wouldn't have her big brother! The only way to make change is to speak out, and to help the dogs in there find homes by promoting its existence and the website http://WWW.ineedahome.co.uk
