CXC3000 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Is this what a democracy does ? - closes radio stations because it's views might not be in favour with the regime ? Sounds more like what a dictatorship would do. Shameful on Israel's part. ---------- Critics say action against broadcaster is a politically motivated attack on democracy Israel has closed down a dovish Israeli-Palestinian radio station in what its backers say is a politically-motivated decision to silence criticism of the Jewish state. The attack on the radio station, which has broadcast for seven years, raises fresh concerns about press freedoms at a time when many of Israel's liberals view the country's democracy as under threat from the right wing. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/israel-shuts-liberal-radio-station-in-attempt-to-silence-criticism-of-right-6265422.html
Halibut Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Hard to see it as anything other than a repressive and undemocratic act really.

CXC3000 Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Hard to see it as anything other than a repressive and undemocratic act really. Very true. blimey its amazing how many israel stories are out there, its a constant stream with you lol is there a hidden israel story making machine out back? Thankfully nothing's hidden from the internet. Israel purports to be this 'wonderful bastion of human rights and freedom of speech'. What a sick joke that is.
mj.scuba Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Israel purports to be this 'wonderful bastion of human rights and freedom of speech'. What a sick joke that is. Just image if they were even half as bad as their neighbours.
B2 Spirit Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Blimey. Israel can't even shut down a pirate radio station without the European left and Muslims like CXC using it in some twisted propaganda effort online.
Jeffrey Shaw Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Now, you know how obsessive 'CXC3000' is. Don't feed trolls.
TheGuy Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Very true. Thankfully nothing's hidden from the internet. Israel purports to be this 'wonderful bastion of human rights and freedom of speech'. What a sick joke that is. You're priceless, what are human rights and freedom of speech in the Muslim world like, generally?
Ian Dome Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Israel has closed down a dovish Israeli-Palestinian radio station in what its backers say is a politically-motivated decision to silence criticism of the Jewish state. So we just take the word of some 'backers' of a 'pirate station' as gospel? I can't quite grasp what the OP was hoping to achieve here? Israel shuts down a pirate radio station? We do that here don't we? Does anyone know the current situation with pirate broadcasters in the Muslim states, and how they're dealt with?
Jeffrey Shaw Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Moslem pirates are active- in (and off the coast of) Somalia, for instance.
