Guest Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Wow.. I did say it.. I said it many of times.. Maybe some people will believe me that Xbox inst un-hackable http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/video-games/Xbox/8906043/Xbox-Live-customers-hacked-in-fresh-cyber-fraud-case.html That isn't 'hacking', is it? It's phishing: taking advantage of people being silly with their account details in response to some to good to be true offer. Criminals were said to have made “millions of pounds” by tricking customers into disclosing personal vital information. ... The "phishing" gangs were thought to have stolen small amounts of money from credit cards over several weeks, which made it harder to detect the fraud. As part of their scam, the gangs sent emails to players directing them to fake websites offering free Microsoft points that can be used to buy games. Duped victims then entered their personal details, which allowed criminals access to their accounts and valuable credit card information. They also reportedly befriend players online and convince them into volunteering personal details.

Surely Xbox should be chasing these sites down like banks do with there phishing sites.
Guest Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Surely Xbox should be chasing these sites down like banks do with there phishing sites. I didn't say otherwise. I questioned whether what's been reported is actually 'hacking'. And as the article states: On Tuesday, executives from Microsoft, which operates Xbox Live, were investigating the cyber thefts there's clearly some sort of investigation taking place.
Paul Blade Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 As Hecate posted That isn't 'hacking', is it? Except she (if I am wrong I apologise in advance) said silly I say extremely greedy and stupid and deserves losing every penny they have That is my first and last comment on this subject I await attacks
Logic3 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 This has been happening for months, the thieving scum buy FIFA DLC with their plundered loot. It seems to be related to your EA and Xbox Live accounts, so if you have both - I would change your passwords ASAP before you get hit by these Russian and Chinese criminals.
Greengeek Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 OMG My bank must have been hacked! I got the same emails from them!
walkerx Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 anyone stupid enough to believe they are going to get free points by clicking on the link serves themselves right for getting duped. if i want points i either a) buy the card from game b) buy on my xbox when logged into live c) buy on my pc via the official xbox website 9/10 it will be option 'a' and only via option 'b/c' if i need points in a rush to purchase something i won't do it from clicking on a link in an email
