what exactly are you wanting to learn, low key, night club, enviromental, landscape, astrophotography. Low light could be a number of things.

But he can't do it now till at least March next year. so something like in the link is what we are looking for.

Purchased through Living Social, so we got to mess about going through the refund process.

justbought extension tubes any advice would be welcome on how to use them correctly

Depends on the type, if they are the non automatic type you need a lens with a manual aperture ring or you are restricted to maximum aperture with does reduce your depth of field pretty drastically if they are the automatic type then the cameras electronics take care of most things for you.
