rn.1985 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Hello I lost my cat just over a week ago, when out shouting for her a young black cat approx 6 months came running over to me and not leaving me it followed me to my house and ran in when i opened the door. I quickly inspected the cat and noticed its been attacked under one of it leg on its belly. This doesn't look infected and seems to be healing nicely. The cat looks under weight. The cat has no collar. To my stupidity i fed the cat and then tried to return it to the place it decided to latch onto me. This didn't work and keeps returning to my house. Its there all the time meowing. I have taken it to see if its chipped and it isn't. I called RSPCA and basically they don't want to know. What do i do? Its constantly on my door step and is breaking my heart not to let it in and feed it. I've no idea if this pet belongs to anyone but i doubt it, it doesnt leave my front door. Its a beautiful friendly cat that purrs loads. I can't take this in as i've got cats already and can't cope with anymore. Anyone know what i should do for the best? Its breaking my heart just to ignore it and thinking no one is actually taking care of the cat. Thank you

berlingo Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Can you not keep it if it hasn't got a home?
rn.1985 Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 Can you not keep it if it hasn't got a home? No i've got fish, 2 rabbits and 2 cats already. I really can't afford anymore pets. I wish i could as its really upsetting.
jordanjlb Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Try ringing north sheffield cat protection on 0114 2456371 they were really helpful when my neigbour had a similar situation ( although the owner did come and claim the cat). They seemed really friendly and gave her some good advice, hope you get it sorted.
happymummy24 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 what area is this in,ill keep my ears and eyes open with people who may have lost one
Rainrescue Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Sadly - every rescue is flooded with cats - there are so many out there that people have, let out, and then never care for. Its heartbreaking. All the rescues are at bursting point. The Local branches of RSPCA and CPL are neutering as many as they can - small rescues are doing all they can to help - but still its not enough. People need to be responsible for their pets - and they aren't. This is what many people are witnessing the city wide - and there isn't an answer - its just all heartbreaking. I would keep feeding him - they can't be hungry if living rough in these cold weathers - and maybe make up a place outside that he'/she can get shelter from the cold in - its some protection and with food in the belly - they are better able to combat the cold. At worst - tie a collar on and put a note on the collar - if they have an owner - maybe they will get in touch. Biggest of all make sure its neutered - because if not - it will be breeding and then thats more heartbreak to witness Well done you for caring - it isn't easy for you or the cat - thats for sure.
