ok, shoot me cos my english isnt 100% this morning - i meant to say we have to wait in case the patient turns up late. but only late for the reasons given. as a lot of our tests run in sequence its not a case of slotting people in when they do turn up - if one slot is missed and the 2nd slot is then missed we cant always deal with patients at the end - that would mean inpatients were then delayed and urgent e&e/itu patients would be left waiting which definatley isnt acceptable.

what people seem to have missed is the fact that up to 10% just dont turn up ... now that is madness and inefficiency.

Totally agree, I work in Xray and I find it infuriating with the amount of appointments that just don't turn up, I mean come on, not many people don't have access to a phone these days to let us know, about time Sheffield adopted Lincoln's stance and fined people for missing appointments unless for a genuine reason...:rant:

I agree.

Not only is it disruptive it's bloody RUDE to not just not let the department know that they won't be attending.

They're probably the same patients who moan like hell if they don't get seen on time when they DO attend too.
