Where fixes car radios?

Recommended Posts

My car radio has been broken for about 3 weeks now, the electrics have all gone to it and it wont light up any more so it could be something as simple as a fuse, but I don't know where to take it that will repair it. Has anyone got any ideas? Its a very lonely drive to Nottingham and back everyday without it!

Before you spend a lot of money getting the radio checked, why not call the dealer who sells that make of car?

Did your car battery go flat, or was the battery disconnected just before the radio failed?

Some cars have 'theft proof' radios which disable themselves if they are removed from the car (and if the battery is disconnected, the radio may well think it has been taken out of the car.)

It may be that your radio needs a code to re-initialise it. The dealer should be able to tell you if that's the case and may be able to tell you what to do. (The manual/paperwork for the car may also tell you.)

if its the cars factory fit head unit. if the main car fuses has popped. the dash clock would also lose the time!
