Eater Sundae Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 As a kid, (nearly 50 years ago) I remember pie & pea suppers being with hot pork pies. Not seen them for years
JayVee Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 But that's so wrong! No it isnt - we used to get them a few years ago from a butcher in Loxley - still warm - FABULOUS!! If you can still get them I am with the OP.
jaffa1 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 But that's so wrong! But that's so delicious. Don't be brain washed. Enjoy. It's no different than eating hot pork.
top4718 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I bought one from a butchers in Ilkley and didnt find it very palatable and I love pork pies, much prefer em cold.
jaffa1 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 There used to be a pork pie man come to Chapeltown Market but he doesn't come anymore. His pies were always still warm and running with the juices . yum yum. Try putting them in the microwave for a blast. Many years ago Winters Bakery in Fitzwilliam Street always sold hot pork pies . It's a wonder us oldies are still alive with the stupid rules and regulations they have today. I bet we live longer than those that go by the new regs.
Lady Star Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 There used to be a restaurant near Campo lane that served pork pies with peas - hot! They were revolting, I thought that they must have misunderstood that hot gelatine wasn't for consumption:gag:
