Take the motherboard out mate and put it in the oven at 170 for 15-17 min no more that should melt the solder back into place put it all back togeather and it'll work guaranteed

......................add salt and pepper, then serve on a bed of freshly prepared salad!!

Seriously,DON'T even consider this, you could melt any plastic parts!it needs a reflow for a proper repair. Its the same as the towel trick for the 360,it may work for a while but it WILL go again!!

ignore corsaman hes probably one of those who has never tried this or even reflowed a console this is a safe thing to do or i wouldnt have recomended it itll cost you nothing and isnt hard to do its a good idea to replace the thermal paste though as like most companys they dont spread it thin enough or evenly

I have reflowed loads of xbox 360's,and the safest way is with a heatgun and covering all capacitors and plastic parts,it lasts longer.I'm pretty sure that plastic has a lower melting point that metal! Check any gaming forums and i'll bet every one does not condone sticking it an oven.Capacitors cannot take a lot of heat and will swell and leak. There's also a very good chance that the board will warp.

So,yes,i do know what i'm talking about!

IF you know what you are doing and take care it is not too difficult

My nephew did this about 18 months ago and its still going strong

i have used the heatgun trick also but after fixing loads of consoles i found the oven trick to be the best as for the plastic melting point 170 is fine in the oven nothing will melt. remember where making the solder joints soft the ps3 boards dont flex as much as the xbox 360 due to using the proper materials which makes the fix last.
