Lestat Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Was he right to hold out or was it the Millers who were at the helm for his decision to go to Reading rather than Wednesday. I think he's scored 4 goals this season for them and not really set the Madejski Stadium alight. Meanwhile The Owls have seemed to do okay after all the transfer gossip that surrounded us and Rotherham at the time. So, was it the right move by M&M to look elsewhere? I think so, I wouldn't change our strikeforce to include ALF at this point. Meggo obviously knew the type of player he wanted and would not pay over the odds to the Millers who were looking to make a quick buck - as they of course should. I only mention this as we are now being linked with more strikers everyday it seems, from another Miller to a York forward. What do Owls think about this? There are already rumours abound that Madine may be going to a higher league club for around £4m in January. I hope to god these are just rumours as we really need to hold on to him now. Should we sell JJ, Sedgewick to bring in Marshall or even try again for Mellor? All this and the transfer window is still a month away!
alex3659 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 £4m for Madine:o. Not a dig in any way pal but that's ridiculous, who's told you that?.
Lestat Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 £4m for Madine:o. Not a dig in any way pal but that's ridiculous, who's told you that?. I agree pal, it is ridiculous. Heard it in the pub from someone who 'obviously' knows the internal goings on at Hillsborough but it did make me wonder..
scoobydotcom Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 we paid around £800,000 for madine and he has around 3.5-4yrs left on his contract, I doubt anyone will pay the £2m+ it would probably take to get him

Its peanuts to Premier league teams.
TAT Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 £4m for Madine:o. Not a dig in any way pal but that's ridiculous, who's told you that?. It must come from the book of massive transfer rumours..Grant £2m, Tudgay £3m and now Madine £4m !!! Again the word deluded comes to mind..

TAT Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I did say it was a rumour, please if you've got nowt constructive to say - stay off the thread. Its constructive to say , its a silly rumour, building up a long thread about massive Owl transfer fees that never develop, as in my previous examples. 3RD division strikers dont go for £4m just as 3rd division goalkeepers dont go for £2/3m ..as in Grant. Deluded !! rumour nah:hihi: FICTION
alex3659 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 What is the most wedenesday have ever recieved for a player?.

Deluded !! rumour nah:hihi: FICTION I'm not saying he's in the same bracket as Madine, but Oxlaide-Chamberlain went for a lot more than that off the back off a quality season in league one.
