Now which isp is the best for my needs??

Needs as follows:

Very good FUP (I download 500gb+ per month)

No traffic shaping

Stable (I work from home alot)

Good pings (for gaming)

Best connection charge/monthly rental?

Many Thanks

I've been with Origin for a few weeks now. Their heart seems to be in the right place, but I do have some concerns. Download speeds have been very variable for me - from 1.xMb upto 32Mb, but most commonly around 15Mb (figures based on downloads from Giganews). Not a showstopper, just a bit puzzling as to why I see such a wide variation.

My other concern has been lack of "customer care". I've rung in two problems now, and, in both cases, I got a "not come across this before. We'll get back to you" brush-off, and no follow-up from them. It just rankles a bit...

Hi Temuchin,

I hope our heart is in the right place, but the last thing we want to is leave anyone with the impression that we don't take customer issues seriously; because we do. I've PM'd you my details so I can find out a bit more and help where I can. Please get in touch.

We're very passionate about people being able to choose a local alternative when it comes to broadband and phone, and one of the benefits is that you speak to local people and not go on hold for ever.

Get in touch and I'll see if we can't put things right.

Origin

I'm liking the fact we have some of the people from these ISP's on here.

Do you guys have any costs for activating lines, or is it the same as BT's costs?

Hi,

It depends, sometimes BT can activate a line for free. Our Install costs are on our site, but we don't take any payments until the service is active and we can split the install costs to make it easier.

It's nice to be involved in the conversation :-)

For me the Origin Broadband customer service was second to none!

Sorry for hijacking the thread...

Would either of the two ISP's who offer a free router be prepared to discount the service if the router isn't required? I use a Draytek Vigor 2820Vn and a "Free" router would be no use to me.

One of the benefits of using a local company is that they can be flexible:-) Give us a call or an email and we'll take a look.
