have the road markings changed as you go to the start of derek dooley way travelling from handsworth to filter right down to the wicker? nr the flyover, i thought that before you could get in the right hand lane and that split into 2 lanes for the same direction, i can see that the white markings seem to have been smudged out, many people crossing the lanes nearly causing accidents:nono:

People shouldn't change lanes without making sure the lane they want to go in is clear.

See this thread for my reason why the council have made these changes:

Yes before you stayed in the right hand lane and it split just before the traffic lights, now it splits much further up (just a little after matalan) so if you want to be in the left hand lane at cutlers gate, you split off from the right hand lane earlier than before and then that lane further splits to become the left hand lane at cutlers gate or carries on down to the roundabout.

It is very poorly signed, and over a week later there are still cars changing lanes all over the place when you get near the lights. Although even if you get in the correct lane its almost as if there isn't quite enough room and the lane kind of veers back towards cutlers gate making it feel almost as if you are veering in front of the other traffic.

If it was better signposted then i agree the chages are for the better, but at the minute at busy times it is almost dangerous with all the cars changing lanes and veering

i know the signing isn't 100% clear but you must admit that it makes sense, if only the muppets that still charge up the inside lane only to brake heavily/swerve/indicate (in that order) to gain 2 car lengths on the road, looked and then used the lanes accordingly then there's no reason for it not to be safe, should if used correctly speed up journeys too as majority of rush hour traffic is heading for derek dooley way.

I agree, i have been using the "new lane" since it changed last week and its much better. Drive straight past all the cars which still sit in the right hand lane all the way down. Just have to watch out for cars veering in front of you from both sides when you get down near the bottom.

If everyone paid attention to the road signs and got in the right lane it would be great and eveyone would get there much faster and safer
