supper mum Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 got a parking ticket at centertainment sheffield for £80 is it legal, heard I don't have to pay cause it is a private company, true??
Vrsaljko Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If it's a 'penalty charge notice' then bin it and don't get into correspondence with them.
Walkley Dave Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If it's a 'penalty charge notice' then bin it and don't get into correspondence with them. Correct. There will be a letter chain consisting of various threats including bailiffs and threats to your credit record. Ignore. To get a CCJ and thus affect your credit record they would have to take you to court (very very unlikely); win - just as unlikely; and then you don't pay them. Remember ignore all correspondence except properly stamped court papers!
Anarchon Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If it's a 'penalty charge notice' then bin it and don't get into correspondence with them. I thought only the police or councils could hand out penalty charge notices as it's proscribed terminology as per the Road Traffic Act? I'm sure you meant 'parking charge notice' or any other terminology that can be abbreviated to 'PCN' by private parking companies.
