ITunes - how to go the 'wrong' way?

It's not me but the scenario is this - Perfectly synched iTunes Library & iPod, then the HDD dies leaving the music only on the iPod.

 

Now obviously the first thing to do is berate the person for not making a backup - but what next? The HDD can be replaced and iTunes re-installed and all apps etc can be recovered. Pictures can be recovered by connecting the iPod as an external drive and transferring them. How do you get the music not bought in iTunes from the iPod to the computer?

 

I know there is 'Sentui' which will work on a Mac, but that's not an option here.

Song Bird will allow you to download OFF the iPod, and there's a MAC version available!
