magsie Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Last Thursday I had a call from the lovely young man who looks out for the feral cats at Attercliffe to say a cat crawled up to him with its paw stuck through its collar. I managed to get in touch with an RSPCA Inspector who made provision for the cat at Peak Vets. We rushed her there in the dark and the only way we knew she was seriously hurt was her smell, she smelled of rotten meat so it was obvious that any injury she was carrying was an old one. It was her armpit that was very badly infected from the collar digging in. Lovely young Tortie has been wonderfully dealt with by Peak Vets, and the RSPCA have taken responsibility for her, a huge relief to me as there must be a huge vet bill involved. Pepsi is on painkillers and antibiotics, she will be mended and rehomed from the Animal Centre. Thank you RSPCA Inspectorate for your efficiency and kindness, Peak Vets and the lovely young man who cared enough to call for help for puss, without you, Pepsi would have died. Obviously there are inherent dangers from cats wearing collars that are not self-releasing. I'm not an expert on such things but perhaps someone who is will post separately. I'm amazed dangerous collars are sold. Pepsi is a sweet cat, how can that be when she has gone through so much? Animals are wonderful, that's how.
happymummy24 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 presumably shes owned?and maybe gone missing, hope she finds her homexx
NewBiz Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 That's really nice to hear. Well done Magsie, the man who feeds the ferals and the RSPCA. I hope the little one gets well quickly and goes onto find either her owner or a new forever home.
magsie Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 There's never an owner in my experience, there are so many abandoned cats and ferals down Attercliffe, in fact all over the city. This cat was found miles away from houses, crawling late at night, in the rain and cold, under a works gates. A new forever home is what she deserves. Just one of so many. Can't thank RSPCA enough. Pep is a little star for surviving. Love her x
purplepeke Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Lovely story, and a happy ending for a special little puss. xxxx A big pat on the back, to all involved in the rescue of Pep!! xxx
Rainrescue Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Brilliant news and thanks to that little helper who helps so many in need. Its reassuring to know that now she is cared for by the RSPCA and hopefully soon she will get a new home. If you get to see her picture on their site, let us know - we can probably put a link to her from ours or the forum? I know when I was last down there - they said just how many cats get brought in and so many have collars on - someone somewhere must be missing them? Lets hope this one gets claimed bless them.
