janie48 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 That tour was what started their fame, wasn't it ? they lived in hamberg for a while didnt they playing the clubs. later they released their first single "love me do" it was 1963 when beatlemania really took off with "she loves you" which i think was their first number 1 hit.

No I mean just getting with her in the first place, let alone marrying her - however long it lasted. Being a Beatle served him well, she'd have been way out of his league ordinarily.
melthebell Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I have no particular liking for the music of The Beatles, but like the work of Martin Scorsese so am enjoying the way that the story is being presented. Besides, I would hardly describe not knowing that Astrid Kirchherr fancied Stuart Sutcliffe or that the boys slept in a broom cupboard with no washing facilities for a few nights as "hiding". I don't even know that level of detail about bands that I like. me niether but surely you knew they played loads in hamburg?
quisquose Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 me niether but surely you knew they played loads in hamburg? Yeah, but that's not what I said. Actually you rather spoilt this programme for me. I was enjoying an excellent story driven driven documentary about some guy's life. Next I'm thinking that I should already know all this stuff in detail, which I don't, like The Beatles should have been studied at school or something.
Suffragette1 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 He was lucky guy marrying Pattie Boyd http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_sT25j09iTbY/STXxYPyDL7I/AAAAAAAAKx8/ZGgULS5I_Mg/s400/Pattie+Boyd..jpg She was lucky marrying him, having a couple of the best love songs ever written for and about her and then going on to marry Eric Clapton. I'm recording it and shall watch it later. Harrison was my favourite Beatle by a mile.

I must have been in hiding, but just realised that Cilla Black really couldn't sing at all, not a bit. Really painful. Next act after her was Sandi Shaw, and it was like being woken from a nightmare with a nice cup of tea and reassurances that everything is okay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxgHypEdeEU Like nails down a chalkboard to me.
