That tour was what started their fame, wasn't it ?

they lived in hamberg for a while didnt they playing the clubs.

later they released their first single "love me do" it was 1963 when beatlemania really took off with "she loves you" which i think was their first number 1 hit.

I have no particular liking for the music of The Beatles, but like the work of Martin Scorsese so am enjoying the way that the story is being presented.

Besides, I would hardly describe not knowing that Astrid Kirchherr fancied Stuart Sutcliffe or that the boys slept in a broom cupboard with no washing facilities for a few nights as "hiding".

I don't even know that level of detail about bands that I like.

me niether but surely you knew they played loads in hamburg?

Yeah, but that's not what I said.

Actually you rather spoilt this programme for me. I was enjoying an excellent story driven driven documentary about some guy's life.

Next I'm thinking that I should already know all this stuff in detail, which I don't, like The Beatles should have been studied at school or something.

even though you don't like their music---you have to give them credit for the influence and respect they have attained in the past 48 years.

I must have been in hiding, but just realised that Cilla Black really couldn't sing at all, not a bit. Really painful. Next act after her was Sandi Shaw, and it was like being woken from a nightmare with a nice cup of tea and reassurances that everything is okay.

:hihi:

Like nails down a chalkboard to me.
