New definition of ignorance

Whilst in town earlier I was observing the silence, as you do when you have respect for the thousands who have given their lives for us I did not answer a question asked of me, I held my finger to my lips to indicate I was being respectful. The woman went ballistic, screaming at how ignorant I was. I waited until the silence had finished then pointed out that, as I was showing a mark of respect, maybe she should look closer to home to see who was the ignorant party then left the shop to a round of applause and a poppy red woman, who was not wearing a poppy.

I a similar experience whe coming out of the cathedral after Liam Riley's funeral service, a woman was ranting at me and others as to why the road was blocked off, I told her to show a some respect but she carried on ranting until a copper told her to shut up or he would arrest her.

Thick ignorant disrespectful scum.

whatever the rights & wrongs of wars, the servicemen & women should be respected & remembered for the sacrifices they have given & are still giving, theyre following the instructions as set by governments, nato, UN etc. at least they have the courage to stand up & be counted & serve their country unlike a lot of people nowadays!

It's not just people in shops any more, it's shops themselves now.

I found myself near the markets today, and, during the silence, all I could hear was the thumpity-thupity-thumpa of the bass from the music coming out of that OMG! boutique (a "clothes" shop) next to the entrance.

There's lack of respect, then there's "We just don't give a damn."

Today while I was out and about I saw a poppy laying on the ground some one must have dropped it. I didn,t like to leave it there in the dirt so I picked it up and decided to lay it on the village war memorial, when I got there there were two American students picking up the little wooden remembrance crosses people had placed and were throwing them around. I went mad and I am afraid my language got rather blue but I was so angry at their total lack of respect. Good on the OP for putting that ignorant woman in her place.
