Strix Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Every year when the weather gets like this it's the same - his back problem gives him gyp again We've got an appointment at the vets round 6 this eve Can anybody give me a hand wrangling a small child and a beagle in Woodseats at that time?

Strix Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Thanks Adz - *Peaches* came and sat in the car with H whilst we went in Not seen you in what seems like an absolute age! We'll have to take the hounds out sometime - after Brude's medicine for his back has the desired effect
*Peaches* Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Glad I could help I know what its like to struggle with kds and vets
Strix Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Thanks Peaches It's the kids and dogs I struggle with - the vets are usually okay
Rainrescue Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Hope the little man is feeling better now Strix - he's after a lay on the sofa no doubt.
Strix Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 HA! He's going about it all wrong then, as he's not allowed to jump up on ANYTHING whilst he's in this condition He's had metacam for a week but it's not settling, so we've been and had a chat with Greg, and he agrees it's fine to knock him out pretty much for a couple of days. We've done this before. Tramadol for a couple of days to keep him properly off his feet, then the full dose of metacam instead of the amount we usually give him The big problem is that if he's not right after a week of metacam (which is where we are now), he starts climbing the walls to go for a walk, throws himself round like a loony, and winds up worse than he was before. I can't just crate him at this stage, he won't settle in this state ... and every time we have to do this I go sick that it could be worse than it looks coz that's what it was like when it first happened
Evei Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 ... and every time we have to do this I go sick that it could be worse than it looks coz that's what it was like when it first happened Sorry to hear that B is not too well at the moment. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the rest will sort him out and he is back to his normal self quickly.
