samsmum Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 im 16 years old and want to move out of my parents house but im not sure if ill be able to get a house cuz of my age im a student at collage so i dont know if that works either im sure there is someone in student support at college who can help you. speak to them first. not sure if you would need someone over 18 to act as a guarantor for any lease you got - is there no adult you could get help from?
RosyRat Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 You won't be eligible for a Council property, as they are in very short supply and are allocated according to priority : rehousing as a result of demolition, needing to move urgently because of domestic violence, being homeless. If you do decide to move from home, you need to look for private rented property and it will be up to the landlord to decide whether or not to let to you. Neither would you be eligible for a property just because you're pregnant (I know you're not!), no matter what's said on here to perpetuate the sad old urban myth. If you were pregnant and homeless, that would be different. You have a home at the moment and, if you leave, you would be making yourself intentionally homeless and the Council would not be obliged to find you anywhere to live.
mema tigs Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 what is it with all the replys about being pregnant i dont want a kid or a tree bedroom i want a two bedroom but wouldnt i be able to get a student accomdation??
helhol Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 hi, i think one of you have to be 18 as to sign legal aggreements by landlords , please ignore the stupid comments about babies etc, its good to see you in college, and i understand the fact you just want to be independent, but do think hard as you will have bills to pay and buy clothes, food etc, it aint easy, good luck what ever you decide though. also if you are planning to go uni, stay at home and save your money cause you may need it if move away to uni.
alchresearch Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I've heard of the teenage equivalent of sheltered housing for 16 year olds who need to move out for various reasons.
