My longest was a pre season friendly to Geneva by train and boat followed by a trip to Basle and a trip to Chiasso [spelling], three games in one country and three different languages.

I was on weekend leave from work and my Dad was the Boss, I shot off to watch the Blades in Switzerland to watch the Blades without telling him and he sacked me.:hihi::hihi:....

When I got back two weeks later I gave him a gold watch I had got in Geneva and he gave me my job back.:hihi::hihi:....

We were working in Southend at the time, what a town.:o:o...

Mines the same although missed the Geneva part due to work so arrved in Basle where I bumped into one of the lads (Andy Matt) who introduced me to my berth which was a strip of grass in the park Apparently one of the other lads( Bobby) had already been deported to France for poaching . This was followed by a night train to Chiasso ( spelling correct btw) where the hotel was originally the stadium but then moved on by the local police in the middle of the night. Had a day in Italy with £5 of Lira which went a hell of a long way followed by Game which we won 1-0

A couple of days later arrived at Garre St Lazare where Bobby had been waiting for the best part of a week.

Great trip

You wasn't there when bobby did his foot in kicking the motorbike then.

Can you remember him getting knocked down bythe Basle goalie for running on the pitch.

We had a room in the Mayfair in Geneva a little hotel, two beds paid for by me and Alan Wndle and about a dozen of us kipping in the room.:hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:.

I always remember the young kids jumping off that high bridge in Basle and letting the current drag them into the bankside about 150-200 yards down river.

Also all the lads thinking they were drunk in a bar in Basle playing on the pinball machine and the Landlord telling us the had been on non alcoholic Grolsch all night. :hihi::hihi:..........

I remember the goalkeeper pulling Bobby down and then the ref deciding to call time early as we kept on running on the pitch also remember having a laugh and joke with Simon Stainrod at the end of the game. First time I had met Bobby & Alan on that trip we then all started knocking about together when we got back until they both left to go to Amsterdam

Funny thing was the photo in the star at Midland Station when the majority set off Gibby was on it but that was as near as he got to Switzerland.

Recently found a photo of Shred and Andy Matthews that I took in the square in Chiasso.

Me and Alan went a couple of days after everyone else and had a coule of nights in Paris, when we got to Geneva all the lads were there using the wash and brush up and showed how to fiddle the station lockers to put our bags in.

The first person we saw in Geneva train station was Gary Mitchel [bent nose].

I remember going to a night match away at Wimbledon (circa 1987) (Used to go with Crofty and the Hillsborough club crew).

We were late setting off (as usual) then the coach wouldn't start, then it broke down on M1 near Watford, we marched off motorway en mass to nearest pub, got barred within 2 minutes for abusive language, got back to coach which now had a flat tyre, pumped tyre up, one of the lads managed to start bus and decided to drive it 100yds down slip road with driver running after us. Broke down again, AA fixed it, got to ground, ran onto terrace just to see ref blow final whistle! :hihi:

Good owd Dennis Bagshaw busses :hihi:
