William Hamilton Punton (born 9 May 1934) is a former footballer and football manager.

Born in Glenkinche, East Lothian, Punton was a left-sided winger who played for Portadown, Newcastle United, Southend United, Norwich City, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe and Yarmouth Town. He went on to manage Yarmouth Town and Diss Town.

Can honestly say I had never heard of him

thirty years....1981 started great for me.....wednesday went top of the league and some grumpty arsenal fans fractured my skull after we had been watching match of the day in hatfield, when the owls beat luton 3-0.

the eighties and two semi final defeats.

the nineties one league cup win, one defeat and trip to fa cup final and two trips to europe.

bonus a nice jolly with alex at france 98.

the millenium and a play off win at cardiff.

another euro jaunt to portugal...

but watching the likes of rooney and lampard....didnt give the same buzz as stood on some decrepit terrace watching the owls in the third....

read about it in wednesday rucks and rock and roll out in january 2012.

no mention of the stick of rock though, but the service station in france gets a look in.....happy days
