Were can I buy White Poppies?

Whilst I respect your views would it be so awful for you to wear a red poppy just for today to honour those whose sacrifice ensured you have the freedom to hold those views?

No, because they obviously like to be different :)

I'm sure you are aware that the original opium wars in the 19th Century were as a result of the British pushing very large quantities of opium to the Chinese - with the Chinese government, understandably not being too impressed, and so led to the wars. Of such things was our Empire built on...

Though I agree with you about treating addicts.. if they didnt have to buy the stuff - they wouldnt be robbing my house and flogging what they've knicked for next to nothing to feed a habbit... er.. we seem to have gone way off topic...

But vaguely back on topic - Britain doesnt fight wars to be "good" - it fights wars, like all countries do, to protect or expand its interests - c'est la vie...

A bit of a slanted view there pal, we can all read things and make our own interpretation of it jake, what makes you an expert ? You certainly weren't there kid ..... history eh it's a wonderful thing :D

Well I for one will be remembering the wonderful men & women who gave their lives to give us the freedom we have now ! They are true heroes and should be honoured accordingly ! I have a lovely Poppy on front of my car ( aptly called Poppy) ! WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

I haven't said anything like otherwise, I couldn't agree more but that is nothing to do with my reply you answered.

We certainly didn't expand our interests after winning the second world war.

No we won't.

One week after the event, we'll have forgotten all about them and leave the few living ones to their undignified existences in a nursing home, or we'll leave them to die of hypothermia in their freezing cold flats because they can't afford to keep the heating on anymore... until next year of course, when we'll another spend two weeks trading insults with each other on here.

The treatment of OAPs in the UK saddens me, and Rememberance Day now seems to be hijacked by the local morons as an excuse to shove their 'patriotism' down our throats.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

That's because we were skint and needed to rebuild the country, hence thousands of immigrants we imported from the former British colonies
