OP:

I wore a white poppy a few years ago, that I bought at Broomhill Methodist Church - I don't know if they have them this year but you could take a look.

November the 11th at the 11 hour

it is a time we remember Armistice Day which is the end of the 1st world war

red poppys are sold and worn with proud to remember the thousands that lost their lives in the great war and all other conflicts.

It is nothing to do with the morons that want to hijack this day and wear a so called white poppy and call it a peace poppy .have there own national day if thats what they want by all means.

But keep this day special for what its meant for.

It's as if you know nothing at all about 20th Century history. That's awesome

Only on Sheffield Forum would a post about promoting peace lead to insults before the end of page one.

In 1926, a few years after the introduction of the red poppy in the UK, the idea of pacifists making their own poppies was put forward by a member of the No More War Movement (and that the black centre of the British Legion's red poppies should be imprinted with "No More War"). Their intention was to remember casualties of all wars, with the added meaning of a hope for the end of all wars; the red poppy, they felt, signified only the British military dead. The Peace Pledge Union (PPU) took part in its distribution from 1934, and white poppy wreaths were laid from 1937 as a pledge to peace that war must not happen again. Anti-war organisations such as the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship now support the White Poppy Movement.

Those who promote the wearing of white poppies argue that the red poppy also conveys a specific political standpoint, and point to the divisive nature of the red poppy in Northern Ireland, where it is worn mainly by the Unionist community. They choose the white poppy over the red often because they wish to disassociate themselves from the militaristic aspects of Remembrance Day, rather than the commemoration itself.

Now we've cleared that up, can anyone answer the original question? I haven't seen anyone selling them for ages and the only ones I can find are online. My partner is a Quaker so I know that the Sheffield Meeting House aren't selling them.

However, I've just seen that there is a Peace Fair in the Town Hall tomorrow. You might have some luck there.

Hiya...to answer the op's question without criticising or questioning them. You can buy them on eBay. Just type in 'white peace poppy' into the search and a few come up.

Hope this helps x
