big_g Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I use Firefox as a browser. About a week ago, some update was performed on it and I have now lost a feature and it's a bit annoying. I have about four or five web sites that I flick between. To do this I usually just hit the drop down arrow on the address box at the top of the page, select the new URL and the new page starts loading (not sure if I have to tab out of the field but I don't think so). Anyhow, some update was performed last week or the week before. I lost my Google search box from next to the address box (not bothered about that) but now, when I select a new URL, I have to hit the return key (I know - no massive issue but...) So, has this happened to anyone else and anyone know how to get it back? I prefer Firefox to IE and didn't like the look of Chrome. I also used Opera a while back and found it unstable so will stick with Firefox even with the extra work of having to hit 'return' . Cheers G
Stvoider Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 From what I can tell you're trying to access your most 'typed in' web addresses. I dont know why an update would stop this but if you type the web addresses in a few times then they should just start appearing as before. You could always use the bookmarks.
big_g Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 They are still there - just don't work as they used to. For example, my address bar currently shows http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=8252484 at the moment. If I drop the combo box down, I have eight entries on there. If I select http://www.bbc.co.uk - I used to just select that and the web page would start loading straight away. Now I have to hit enter. I know that it's not the end of the world as it's only a case of hitting one key but it's annoying, especially as I keep forgetting and wondering why the page isn't loading.

ATM I have FireFox 8.0 installed and it works as it should perhaps its something else perhaps an addon
big_g Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Sussed it. There was an add-on called Instant-Fox 2.3.2 - no idea when it was added but just noticed that it had an update applied on 6 November - so maybe that was it. Disabled it now - sorted.
