Bert Beech cycle shop

Recommended Posts

Hi Russell - This morning I looked in the General Register Office indexes and compared this with census data, so I can give some more information about the family.  John Beach, a tailor by profession, married Elizabeth Poole in Shrewsbury in Apr-Jun 1868 and their children were:

Francis John Nelson Beach, born Jul-Sep 1869 in Shrewsbury

George Albert Beach, born Jul-Sep 1871 in Shrewsbury

Maud Mary Beach, born Jan-Mar 1875 at Atcham

Walter William Beach, born Jul-Sep 1878 in Birmingham

Sarah Jane Beach, born Jan-Mar 1879 in Birmingham

Bertram Beach, born Jul-Sep 1880 in Birmingham

Kate Ellen Beach, born Oct-Dec 1882 in Birmingham

Minnie Beach, born Jan-Mar 1885 in Birmingham

Your grandfather Walter William married Millicent Ward in Sheffield in 1901. They turn up in the 1911 census return at 209 Sharrow Lane with their two sons. Here is a link to a scan of the census page. https://i.postimg.cc/GhtSbbpR/GBC-1911-RG14-27830-0323.jpg

Absolutely wonderful 😄

Ive never been able to find what I’m looking for on Ancestry.

Your help has been invaluable in filling in some blanks in my family history.

Priory Road, where I remember my grandma living is off Sharrow Lane.

Walter William died before I was born.

If you come across anything else my email address is

russellbeach5@gmail.com

or share it here.

Many thanks, Russ.

Hello again Russell - glad to be able to help a little. Did you see my Private Message? I'll send an email with some more census scans and whatever else I manage to unearth! Millicent is shown at 12 Priory Road in the 1939 Register, and it seems she lived to the good age of 101!

If Cycleracer knows the reason uncle Bert committed suicide I would love to know.

Rumour has it that he was homosexual in an age when it was frowned upon and couldn't stand the heat.

Annbody know if this is true ?
