We are all aware of how poor Sheffield football has been for some time now, a genuine question to both sets of supporters,

How many of us, enjoy the 90mins of football?

I have not enjoyed the matches for some time now, i enjoy the "crack" and the match day experience but the footy..well it gets in the way!

The frustration of rubbish football, played by over paid players and passionless managers.

Its taking its toll on me, am boycotting the JPT and the cup match on Saturday, Had i not got a season ticket, i dont think i would be entering the ground at the momment.

Any one else feel the same, or is my old age and decades of disapointment clouding my under lined issues...i just dont enjoy it anymore.

Its a fact, i turn up out of habit, its what i have done for over 40 years, but maybe just maybe, i have had enough.

I think you are now knowing what its like to be an owls fan mate .... you have suddenly realised that you have to lower your expectations. Sustained premier league football without a sugar daddy with serious wealth is unattainable. If United go up this year whats the best they could hope for next ?

Tip for you .... they are YOUR team always will be .. Ive seen your posts your passionate ... you still love it deep down you still get giddy and your incurable just like me ......... get ont footie forum get in some arguments with us owls and you will feel much better :hihi:

I enjoy the 90 only if the result is a win. It's a bonus if the game has been entertaining. The only games that are entertaining regardless of the result are those that I watch as a neutral.

At much about the same age i too realised that football wasn't really that important.

My daughter in law used to bring my grandchildren to visit on Saturdays and i was watching some awful game at the lane and suddenly realised that i was missing the chance to be with them, said so long to my mates and gave my season ticket to a kid two rows in front,

So you see L.B. nowt's new,we readjust our priorities that's all.

I used to love to read the banter on the football section but now it.s been overrun by unknowledgeable idiots that think snide comments make up for thier lack of football knowledge.

Alick started a thread the other day that was a direct throwback to the good old days, both sides came in with questions and answers and it was a brilliant read, yet you got the regulars digging and trying to get it closed....what for???what do they hope to gain from killing the section.

I started to cherry pick games and still enjoyed the craic with pals i had known for years, unfortunately health issues curtail my attendance these days, but what i hear it.s a load of crap anyway.

I have sixty odd years of memories concerning Sheffield football (yeah

, seen some brilliant Wednesday sides as well) so i no longer have to prove to anyone by all this badge kissing,we're better than you are nonsense,i will go on supporting United in my own way,

Forget all this "football's more important than life or death" bo*****s,thats just for silly kids,do as YOU wish.

Its a shame your feeling this way, but to be honest, 90 minutes of league 1 football can be hard to stomach week in week out, But football is a great game to be involved in, nothing else can make you laugh, cry,get mad and hacked off like the 90 minutes of watching 11 grown men kick a bag of wind around.

The Exeter match ! 4-4 :) Orient away, Oldham away too, several others too, I admit have left twice this season at half time, once through choice once as ill.(hangover)

But i love the match day experience, the pub and the "crack". Its just that 90mins that intrupts a good day out.

Chesterfield away later this month, we have a cracking day planed, new ground, a real ale pub, and a booze up watching a local band in the evening, but you just know what/where the worst 90mins of the day will be.

Is that our Sheaf Jamie ??

I agree, I followed the Blades since being a kid, before I was married I followed them home and away, season ticket every season etc. Back in the old Basset era you kind of knew that you were not supporting the best team and never expected much so when you beat the likes of Man U, Liverpool and the like it was amazing. United are a good Championship club that got into the Premier a couple of times or did well in the Championship. But over the last couple of seasons I have gotten bored, I went to the JPT the other night and thought 'what am I doing here', the highlight of my Saturday is watching match of the day and the five-a-side games I play in are far more exciting to be in and to watch.

I may be looking through rose tinted glasses, but back in the day we had no massive expectation of the team, we saw the passion of players like Bradshaw, Whitehouse, Littlejohn etc and that was more than good enough. There is not many players I could say gave real passion now, not like when Chris Kamara was stood at the bottom of the kop screaming at the fans to make some noise against QPR or the massive send of that Gareth Taylor had against Charlton depite not actually being popular.

But then again, perhaps I am living in the past and now in my mid-thirties I have better things to think about ...

I don't go a lot these days due to family pressure/commitments and other interests. I've practised karate for nearly 40 years so if it's a choice between training or United it's no contest. That said I've been a few times this season and took my grandson to his first Blades match against Oxford, really enjoyed it. I still consider myself an ardent Blade and surprisingly seem to feel it more if we lose eg I can't watch the Football League show. It doesn't matter to me whether we win something or nothing being a Blade is part of my identity
