akoon Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Sheffield Wanderers Walking Group, Bakewell, Sunday 13th November There are so many lovely places to see on this walk that it’s difficult to say exactly what the highlights are, but in order of how we reach them, here’s what you can expect to see if you join us on this day. There will be Bakewell, Over Haddon, Lathkilldale, Middleton-by-Youlgreave, Bradford Dale, Youlgreave, Conksbury village and Haddon Hall. Altogether the walk is 9.75 miles with just 2/3 short sharp ascents. Details: Meet outside Queens Arms Hotel, Bridge Street, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1DS at 10.15 for a 10.30 start. Bus no 218 leaves Sheffield Interchange at 9.30 arriving at Bakewell at 10.15. Return bus is at 17.30. New walkers are always welcome, but please either post in here if you are thinking of joining us, or alternatively e-mail sheffieldwanderers@yahoo.co.uk
scoobz Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 As this Sunday is Remembrance Sunday, no doubt there will be lots of people gathering ready for the parade and service in the square where the group is meeting up. However, if anybody is thinking of joining us we shouldn't be hard to spot as we'll be congregating at a bench which is straight opposite the Queens Arms. Just look for a crowd of backpackers!
