SnailyBoy Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Went to Cineworld yesterday to see The Ides of March. Pretty busy as usual on a Sunday, the entrance seemed really crowded. Noticed that there were extra security checking tickets, looked very much like pub/club bouncers and not usual Cineworld staff. Tickets were checked again going into the actual screen. Anyone else noticed this?

SnailyBoy Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Really? I've never seen it at Christmas, or any other holiday period.
julesmarie Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Eid. Thats why. It was the same end of Aug, ramadam?? not sure if correct spelling, loads and loads of people celebrating this, lots of drinking going on, and extra secruity as always trouble and fighting amongst themselves, not a nice area to be.

Unlikely, as Ramadan weeks are not a time for celebration, but fasting. Eid, the end of Ramadan was yesterday and any celebrations would take place without drinking, as Muslim people do not drink alcohol.

Ramadan is expected to begin on or around August 1, 2011 and will finish on or around August 29, 2011. Eid Al-Adha is a holiday at the end of the Hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca which is one of the greatest religious observance in Islam Eid Al-Adha will fall on or around November 6, 2011

I thought it ended 31st Aug this year, and I have known and seen loads of muslims drink alcohol, with my own eyes, and it was rammned on this day loads walking about with pints and bottles, and loads of trouble, hence the numbers in secruity and police. Also in my post I didn't actually mention mulims, or any colour of these gangs!!!

I think he means Eid Al Fitr, which is at the end of ramadan and took place at the end of August this year. The Eid which has just taken place is Eid al Adha, it was not the end of ramadan, it's a different Eid completely from the one at the end of ramadan.
Badlittlepup Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I know loads fo muslims who drink alcohol actually. Me too, mainly men but a few women too.
