Worked here as an Electrician back in the 80's. Sadly closed down just after miners strike. I'd been transferred from Manvers which had closed about 4 years previous. Some great laughs with some great blokes.

my parents next door neighbour worked there as an electrician in the 80s, arthur young was his name

Oh great yes Arthur Young he was an electrical chargehand i always remember him having long curly hair. Trevor Owen, yer remember Trevor great bloke, whenever we used to go out for fish and chips on a Friday for the whole Electrical workshop, me and Trevor went for a pint and a game of snooker near to chippy in Ecclesfield. Other names were Walt Heyes, Sean Whelan

when I was young I used to run to the top of Sycamore road to see the flame burning at the plant

As a kid we lived in Deerlands Close,we could see the sky flickering Orange,from the flame burning off the gases.

John Spooner is still going strong, still living in Highgreen on School Road.
