iphonelover Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 This is my first time going to this event. The whole event was teenage chav central but I should expect this anywhere there is a funfair. It was laid out very nice with the fair at one side then the stalls round the edge with the display at the opposite side. The toilets were clean which is a nice change at events like this. Sophie Habibis was brilliant and the the girl group at the end werent bad. The 2 chav boy boy bands at the begining were AWFUL!! Im talking trackies, caps to one side and couldnt sing!! Real radio what the hell were you thinking?! The rides were about £2.50 which is expensive but nothing unusual for an event like this. A good choice of ones for the little kids as well which was nice. The fireworks themselves were amazing!!! Whoever organised the Trams wants shooting, absolute poor organisation of trams for the way home!! I know they had a lot to deal with what with after dark and britney spears but they really ballsed things up by sending loads of trams to town and then trams to meadowhall which didnt return to sheffield, so many people ended up stranded at meadowhall for ages! Even the tram conductor said 'stagecoach couldnt organise a pee up in a brewery!' Overall a very good night. Just hope next year they dont put chav boy bands on who cant sing and the trams sort themselves out!
Andy C Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Why did you go to Meadowhall? That doesn't make sense!

That is what you get though from event organisers that think the be all and end of music is the X Factor. I personally would rather see local bands, given the chance to play to a more larger audience. Lets be honest how many were actually there to see Sophie Habibis, rather than the fireworks? As for the tram problem, please remember it is a business, not accountable to the public.

There were 2 which were awful. one was some chav called 'nem' i think and the other was a boy band of chavs with girl chavs in trackies as backing signers. Bloody awful.
Andy C Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 As for X Factor rejects performing, don't get me started...

iphonelover Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 On a cynical note, did you notice who the main sponsor of After Dark is? Then maybe the chav audience may be more appropriate? irwin Mitchell i think was a sponsor, not sure if they were the main ones.
222Meridian Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I didnt't go and I heard the music from 2 miles away! I heard a DJ doing a countdown at 8:45 Was Chase and Status's Blind Faith a song during the display??
Sarkysod Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 irwin Mitchell i think was a sponsor, not sure if they were the main ones. The Irwin Mitchell marquee was on the right hand side of the bowl, so they were the main sponsor. I would just like to see Yellow bus Events, Real Radio and who ever sponsors it, cater on the music side, beyond the chav X factor. I noticed a lot of families with younger children, so why not have a CBeebies type act, as is was a Saturday night. A good local band, would have been nice, or do the main sponsors have a target audience to reach?
