Sleepyhead84 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Hi there I really want to move out of home I am 27 single and work full time (min wage) I have had a look at private renting and I can't seem to afford it. I don't want to house share bad experiences in the past. I would like a 1 bed flat or even a self contained studio/bedsit. So I was wondering what my chances are of getting a council/housing association property are. From what I have read my chances seem slim I don't have any priority circumstances and no waiting time. (should have got my name down when I was 16 but wasn't thinking like that then) Has anyone been in this situation? Any advice? Thanks
diamondjack Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 visit the property shop and get your name down. The property guide comes out every wednesday and there are properties on 'first come - first served' basis - a lot of there are for over 60's but sometimes there are one bed flats on there.
Redyam Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Chances are non existent. This is the reality of the property market right now and you need to make other arrangements. House sharing might be your best option...
retired Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 You could register with Housing Solutions in the private rented sector at Howden House. They deal with people like yourself.
