I didn't call anyone 'stupid' the word I used was misinformed, nor did I mention anything about communism.

you implied they can't be trusted.

This particular issue is quite appalling and I don't see any political party wishing to address this, looks like things are just getting worse.

revolution

The protesters are raising awareness of the dissatisfaction in the establishment and frankly it is working, they have achieved a fair bit of news coverage and by virtue of the fact we are on this forum discussing it is a good indication of their goal; that in its self is the point of the protest and for the record I support them.

a forum full of people who don't know what their aims or objectives are and, for the most part, is not supportive?

seriously, do you really think it's working? If you do, then go home now. the only people who seem to think it's doing anything other than weakening the global occupy cause are you. stop patting yourselves on the back and LISTEN to what people are saying.

its just some socialist ego trip it would seem for some. Its like talking to our idiotic union leaders at work who seem to thing they are big men when they are a laughing stock to most.

Nice to see the masses using their right to protest.

Things have never been right since Margaret Thatcher came to power!

This is a must watch video, not specific to occupy Sheffield but it gives an idea of how the powers that be operate internationally. It shows why there is a global movement happening. :)

all very wordy but he doesnt have any suggestions for what would replace the "failed system" he refers to.

sorry to say this but he is just an idealist, and though that may be admirable,it doesnt offer any logical and concrete ideas about how to change the world for the better.

all nations and societies have their greedy "i'm allright jack" types ---never mind the rest.

thats why the world really hasn't changed that much over the centuries.

Anyone who uses that tired old phrase "wake up!" on a forum is almost inevitable a crackpot conspriacy theorist and not worth listening to.

You're clearly either a wind-up merchant or as mad as a box of frogs! :loopy:

Oh the irony!!!

Occupy Sheffield stands together with occupations all over the world; we are the 99%. We are a peaceful non-hierarchical forum. We're in agreement that the current system is undemocratic and unjust. We need alternatives; you are invited to join us in debate and developing them; to create a better future for everyone.

Just like to point out we all had the choice of changing that but everyone voted against or didn't bother to vote in the AV referendum. The irony of everyone moaning that the lib dems renegaded on everything then the one thing they do get through and nobody bothers.

More and more people don't bother voting and would rather vote on the X-Factor instead.

Anyway another reason things are in the crapper the general public collectively don't give a crap when given the chance to change something.

What is it about the 'current system' which you find to be 'undemocratic and unjust'?

Is the (free) National Health Service 'undemocratic and unjust'?

Is (free) primary and secondary education 'undemocratic and unjust'?

Are handouts to those who are too lazy to get off their arses and find themselves a job (even if that means becoming 'self employed') undemocratic and unjust?

I suppose it depends on who you ask.

Some people never stop asking. They don't seem to realise that you have to pay in if you want to take out. If you don't, there's no money for those who want to take out.

Oh, we're paying in alright, don't worry about that. We are paying through the nose. The trouble is, the economy is down the pan because it's all ending up in the 1%'s tax havens.

If the Lib Dems had put election promises before power, and made intelligent use of the fantastic chance they had, the public would have handed them AV on a plate. They have no one else to blame. People have more respect for Simon Cowell than Nick Clegg.

It's common sense, when you think about it, isn't it? We can't spend money we don't have, and it's all in tax havens of the 1%, so the economy stands still. Even if the government would have given the money it gave to the banks, to the hard-working poorest instead in this country, it would still all end up in these tax havens because they have the system sewn up.
