happymummy24 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 shes 7 weeks and pure white other than a brindle patch on her eye and a staffy x,but i noticed shes not very ressponsive to call,so did test clapping hands and saucepan lids ect awake and asleep,no reaction,call her no reaction but tuch her and clap your hands so she can see and she comes running tail wagging,dosent react to hoover and hasent reacted to my friends 2 boys and my own running around and screaming shes not fazed,if you shout her from behind,no reaction but toucch her then se turn round,am i right in thinking she could be deaf or is it just becouse shes s= young

happymummy24 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 well even tested her with my rape alarm i have her ears dont even flicker no reaction,and i can tell you now even i cant stand it and neither can my other dogs,im 99.9 percent sure she is,so well see what vet says tuesdayxx
cyb1 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 oh bless...i have a 8 year old toy yorkie born totaly deaf ...it sounds to me like your little one is totaly deaf ... dont despair ..if you are prepared to use your hands, arms and facial expressions you will have a more than usual faithful friend ..if you would like any advise on training a deaf puppy please feel free to pm me and i will offer you my phone no and all the free help i can give..my little one is the most faithfull obedient darling ive ever owned in my 60 plus years of dog ownership ...your baby ,like mine is extra special !!!!!!
happymummy24 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 she deffinatly is love her to bits,but she hasent learnt that biting hurts which aparently is very common in deaf puppys,how the hell am i meant to teach her she realy realy hurts she is only playing but im worried that could get out of hand

happymummy24 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 ok so shes deffinatly 100percent deaf these fireworks havent given any reaction,untill she saw the lights,toniht done some training suitable for her and have managed to teach sit and laydown but without signs so need to add signs as she becomes more interactive,its very hard to get her attention fixed on the job in hand lol
0742Sheff Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 An old friend of mine had a big cane/bamboo that he would bang on the floor to get the attention of his deaf dog. It must have been the vibration the dog picked up on but it worked a treat.
