Iwork2shop Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I've got some old books that I'd like to sell and was thinking of taking them to the Sheffield Auction Gallery. I've never sold anything at an auction before so don't really know what to expect. Has anyone got any experience (good or bad) of selling items at auction? Thanks
Elmambo Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 You will be fine there or at A E Douse, on Scotland Street, both have valuers who will advise you. An auction is a good way to get rid of books in bulk, but can be a bit of a gamble; books don't always sell well - all depends on what they are.
metalman Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 They've got a book auction coming up on the 25th November so I'd get them in there quick if you're going to do it. If you want to PM me the sort of things you've got I might be able to tell you whether it's worth the effort.
Iwork2shop Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks for the help. Metalman I've sent you a PM
doggie 5 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I have used them several times and always been pleased. In fact I had one very nice surprise with the price an item made under the hammer.
