Re-homing a cat

No it just shocked me that someone could give a member of their family away when its gets a little inconvenient. To me a pet is for life and is part of the famaly. Lets hope the poor thing finds a good home. :)

He also deserves a better life than he's got. Not only do I have a baby, I have two older kids too plus a dog who he despises. My partner and I also both work. We are an insanely busy family and he never even gets a cuddle bless him.

I'm doing this BECAUSE I love him. I'm hoping I might find someone who can give him the things he needs. Attention, time, affection, play with him. Maybe a middle aged couple who's kids have flown the nest but are still young enough to have a rough and tumble with him.

I'm welling up even as I write this. Please don't assume i'm just dumping him because he's an inconvenience. Its not like that at all.

I have read that most sanctuary are full.

The Sheffield Animal Centre is bursting, The Sheffield Cat shelter is closed for the time being to taking any in, Thornberry are full, Cat Abuse Treatment Society is full, Rain Rescue, Sheffield CPL branches are full.

Nobody can take and help these poor defenceless creatures - who have done no wrong - its heartbreaking.

Sad though it is, rescues simply cannot cope with the over production of kittens and abandoned cats this year.

The only way is to find friends or relatives to take them in.

Its very sad but it may be best to have the cat put down as there is no quick fix.

Better this than have your cat passed around from home to home.

People no longer want to take over another persons pet problem / vets bills in a desperate economic climate... harsh but true.

Doncaster

you have a heart of gold, but the problem is massive country wide, and funds are running out for all sanctuary places...vets bills are massive, people have withdrawn donations to fund their own life styles, we shake tins and do tombolas for a measly few coins, its not enough............we cant save them all, or re - home them quick enough......foster homes are just that but no body will foster anymore as they end up having too many for too long and who pays the bills.

I had my puppy dog in 1958 from RSPCA and he was a 7 day Sunday dog..

those that remember the 50s will be nodding now...

Yes he has 7 days to find a home, after sunday he would be PTS

I was shown all the sunday pups and chose him, the others in his pen were not going to be there on Monday!

I loved him and he lived till 20 yrs old.. I have never had another dog since...

The 7 day system will have to come back im sure..its the only solution to this critical situation.

I grew up with lots of animals and even at 7 months my mum and dad started to teach me how to behave around animals , none of our cats were rehomed because i came into this world. Its also good for children to see a pet as part of the family and even a small child can learn from having a pet in the house.

I agree with this Teeny we always had animals, cats don't even need a lot of attention they are very happy to be fed and have somewhere warm to sleep.
