lukeowl1979 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Have any other forum members been experiencing a lack of post over the past few weeks? It started a couple of weeks back that deliveries were getting later and later in the day - sometimes as late as 5:30pm and most days at the moment we seem to be getting no post whatsoever - not even standard junk mail. Has anyone else been experiencing similar in the area?
salmonbones Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Do what I occasionally do for peice of mind. Post yourself a letter! I know it sounds stupid, but it gives you a good yardstick to if you are going daft or not.

Has anyone else been experiencing similar in the area? I live in the area and yes the post has been turning up at odd times and less frequently, it's weird getting your post after dark isn't it:) kind of makes you feel for the postie, it looks like they are doing so many more hours than they used to (if that's the case).
kirakk Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The regular postman/lady may be on holiday,so the duty could be on overtime. The overtime is done after the normal duty, hence the time it is being delivered. With walks now being between 4 & 5 hours, later working times are inevitable.
crofty_bum Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 We are at the opposite side of sheffield to you but our post used to always come at half 9-10ish , a few weeks ago it started coming about 2-3pm, and its still that time, always in the afternoon its been like that for about 6 weeks now
pretty_big Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Apart from Saturdays you will always get your post between 10am - 3pm the days of early post unfortunatly are gone and if royal mail have their way it could end up later as royal mail want to make the job into a 7/8am -4/5pm job meaning postmen won't get out of the office till gone 11 - 11.30am at earliest which is sometimes already the case... Keep complaining but unfortunatly your on a losing battle it's probably the only business where what the customer wants (early delivery) it gets the opposite
sheffchick77 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 im in that area an think the post delivery has been shocking gets later but on a saturday its early thats prob so can have the rest of the day off:hihi:
garrence Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Mmm I don't know where it's all going. In other news, the Post Office are having a huge bonfire this Saturday!
kirakk Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Mmm I don't know where it's all going. In other news, the Post Office are having a huge bonfire this Saturday! Royal mail deliver post etc. The post office is completely separate and offer different service's that you may require. Can't see them burning all the benefits and stamps somehow:roll:
yorkiepudd Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Just don't blame the posties. The changes that are causing the mail to be delivered later are being imposed on them. The mail is delivered to the offices later in the morning as some now comes ready sequenced for delivery ( this also enables RM to get more 1 st class mail delivered next day). They are doing longer walks with less staff ( sign of the times ) so it's something we are all going to have to get used to. Don't forget, posties are customers too so know just what it's like :-)
