Waldo Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I need to record an App (game) playing on my iPhone screen. I'm looking at using a camcorder for this, in a darkened room. Can anyone recommend a decent model? Around £140 ish. Thanks,
HarryBustard Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 One of these plugged into a recording device may be better - if, that is, the display is exported during game play.
Waldo Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks Harry, I've been looking at that option too. They also do a component AV cable (maybe better than composite AV?), and you can also get VGA and HDMI output with the appropriate cable. They should work fine with iPad2 and iPhone4S, but with earlier iOS devices (which I have), you need to add something programmatically in to your app, to get the video out on a second display (note: these cables should work with the apple videos app, and youtube app, and a number of other apps have this functionality built in). I've also tried exporting a sequece of bitmap images, and using QT7 to create a .MOV from them. Problem is, there's no sound, it's a lot of messing around, and also, the image looks a bit too sharp and clinical. I like the look and feel of some of the game videos here: http://www.appspy.com/ I guess it's simply a case of getting the right camcorder, on some kind of tripod, in a darkened room, get the focus right etc. I guess I need some advice from a video makers club or something!
