Moonfire Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Okay, this has completely puzzled me. A knitted hat pattern from Sirdar! Aran yarn Used needles to test: 4mm (40cm) and 5mm dpn's 70sts The stitches don't go round, what do I do? It's still possible for me to be having a thick moment!
Wool4brains Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Off the top of my head: You've cast on tighter than you knit the tension square, try casting on using a bigger needle. You're using skinnier yarn so it's coming out smaller than it should do It's a really small hat and you need to be on dpns from the start. Aran tension runs about 18 stitches to 10cm, you've a 40cm needle so that 70 stitches is only just going to go around. I think it's a really small hat and you might need to be on dpns from the start.
Moonfire Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks wool4brains, I do get confused when a pattern doesn't go right, glad to know there are people in the know
Wool4brains Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Extra possibility - it's really 90 stitches and you need your glasses changing.
Mr&MrsRadish Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Did you forget to change the batteries Moonfire?
Wool4brains Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 You all know that I don't get out much and my life doesn't have much in the way of suspense so it's not surprising that I'm still wondering what went wrong.
Moonfire Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Silly pattern.....silly me, I don't seem to have much luck with Sirdar patterns, or is that all patterns, I'm not too sure! Maybe I just have the knack of picking up patterns that I can't work out, whatever the reason, I'll try it with a few more stitches and see how I go on with that
