Secret-Ninja Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 hi everyone, as you have all heard or read there are so many push bikes being nicked from the city centre the bike we have all worked hard for and paid for out of our own money just for some little git to come and steel. so it got me thinking as my bike was stolen today why cant we get better bike lockstands for use to put are bikes in, meadowhall have got cages so people can lock there bike up while they go shopping, why not have them in the city centre it would be safe for us cyclists to lock our bikes up, if i can get enough people together to take this to the council i think we could get somthing donw about this. would anyone help me
mc55 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 sounds like a good idea (although I don't know if bikes are any safter inside those lockers). It would probably qualify for some environment / green grant
chem1st Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 In Amsterdam they have secure bicycle parking at stations etc.
Murphy Jnr Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 In Amsterdam they have secure bicycle parking at stations etc. They do indeed, the multi storey, never seen so many bikes in one place. It's common at many stations and they're staffed as well. There's still shed loads stolen though.
0742Sheff Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 It is a great idea but there are so many bikes in the center of Sheffield, i think it would be pretty hard to provide the amount of cages needed. Not to mention our councils making the charges for such cages totally outrageous.
