Guest Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I visit quite a few but almost none of them have any or much male clothing. Any ideas on the best places to try?
scousemouse Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I don't think any specialise in mens clothing. Like all these places, it is just a matter of being in the right shop right time! I usually do very well at St Lukes AbbeydaleRoad/Chesterfield Road.
Annina Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I think that you will find that men don't part with clothes until they drop to bits, however, the Oxfam shop in Broomhill sometimes have some quality menswear,
landi Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 depends what your after try British heart Foundation in Sheffield centre
ricdavsoc Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Try Samaritans Shop on Chapel Walk, all mens clothes are on the 1st floor, with ladies wear on the ground floor, it is open Monday to Saturday 10.00am til 4.00pm. We get donations in every week.
Guest Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I get the occasional thing from Samaritans and Oxfam but there seems very little clothing in any charity store. I presume they must get a fair amount so where does it all go?
helhol Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 st lukes at netheredge near post office, nice stuff, reasonably priced too
justcustard Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I think Annina has hit the nail on the head mens approach to clothes wearing is different to females. In fact most men are still happy to wear clothes that are falling apart at the seams. It takes some genital persuasion for their respective other halfs and then just throwing the clothes away when were not looking to make us change our wardrobe. We donate lots to charity shops and I can't recall when I last donated clothes I was finished with. Me and my other half love charity shops. I'd try the Oxfam in Broomhill and the St Lukes in Crookes for specific shops. My main tip would be find a location where there are several charity shops in close versatility and shop around. Your more likely to find what your after. The best places for that in Sheffield are the main road in Broomhill and the main road in Crookes.

It's as much an inconvenience for men to climb up stairs as it is for women. There just seems to be, throughout pretty much all the charity shops, a focus of womens clothing, while men's clothing is deprioritised. I'm sure there will be claims that men don't buy as many clothes from charity shops etc, etc- but, I'd suggest that part of that is due to the fact that men are not well catered for in such shops. I know if I want to find a particular style of clothing in a charoty shop, it's going to involve a lot of time going from one to another, cos the men's sections are either small, non-existent, or tucked away in the most innacessible part of the shop.
