Sheffield Wanderers Walking Group, Stanage Edge Walk, Sun 6th November

From Moscar to Baslow a line of dramatic cliffs cap the heather moors east of the Derwent Valley. This is Stanage Edge. The Sheffield Wanderers walk on this day will take us from Hathersage up and over Stanage, returning by walking beneath the cliffs all the way to Burbage Bridge, and then back to Hathersage via Higger Tor. The total distance of this walk is 9 miles, and the ascent is 1150 feet (350 metres).

New walkers are always welcome. For more details go to http://www.sheffield-wanderers.com.

Details

Sounds realy good. I walk in the Peak every weekend but can't manage a long walk like this.:nono:

Enjoy everybody.

You're right, it does sound a long way! But when you get going, you find that the distance isn't so bad when you've got somebody to chat to as you go along.

With our group you'll find that there's usually around 20-30 people every week, and we all get along great and have a lot of fun. We don't route march either, preferring to take our time and enjoy our surroundings.

Come and join us some time, you'll not regret it.

The last time I did this walk I had to abandon the route half way round because the wind was so bad. Glad to say, we had wall-to-wall sunshine yesterday, and managed to finish no problem. Hope all the new people enjoyed the walk as much as I did.
