No idea what Carters is going to be and yes Firth Park has gone down pan. Hardly ever go now but when I was a child in the sixties it was a great place both for the shops and the park (shops included Allens cycle shop and the sweet shops we used to call at when we walked from Ecco to the boating lake). I only fell in once:hihi::hihi::hihi:

Sadly Firth Park is not like it used to be...first started working down there 15 years ago and it was always really busy...shame....still you'll not starve down there!

Thats when Firth Park starting going down the drain. Yes it had it's criminals but we knew who they were, now it's like a third world country. And could anyone answer me why has Firth Park all of a sudden sprouted loads of take aways ?

I think the council have done a brilliant job of relocating people from pitsmoor/fir vale

Thank's useless council don't move up dore in a hurry will ya.

i brought this up in a previous thread - 20 years ago firth park had a vast array/ variety of shops, i remember roadrunner (records) video city, wigfalls, rumbelows, fine fare etc - now its just one after the other mini markets spilling onto the street or as you correctly say yet another another another take away, it kills me to see it every time i go back, in fact it almost makes me sick - damn shame its been ruined !

I agree totally. My Gran and Auntie lived at Firth Park and it was great when we used to visit, my Dad was from Ecclesfield and what is now the Bellhouse Rd working mens club was their childhood house. During the sixties it was a brilliant place and the shopping area near the roundabout and the park and library were great. It really does seem to be suffering now from urban decay and possibly council policy.

We lived at Meadowhead and in those days I think Firth Park was nicer... :(

Firth Park is another of my "No Go " areas in Sheffield. I have been there for a look but will never spend money there again. There are many like me.
