shefflas23 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I bought a 5 months old staffy yesterday and when i bought him they said he was toilet trained. He isn't. I let him out for ages, took him on walks and then he just comes back into the house and does his business. hes obviously has got into a bad habit but any ideas how to get him out of doing it quickly lol. I can spend the time he need with him but he just doesn't seem to be listening. Hes very giddy at times which i expected as we have one in the family. But he sits, gives you paw so he can learn lol. Please help !!! Thanks:help:
*Peaches* Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 He's just moved homes, he's likely to be all out of keilter with his regular routine. Ignore the accidents and praise him when he does it right, he'll soon get it
shefflas23 Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Yeah i have praised him loads when he did it in the right place just thought it as a bit weird because hes doing it the opposite way round. im off to get him some new toys and some plastic mats to deal with the accidents. just wondered if anyone new any tricks lol
*Peaches* Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Take him straghit outside after food, after sleep and after play, they are usually the 3 main times they'll wanna go
shefflas23 Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Ok thank you ) and what if he just doesnt learn lol ??
Murphy Jnr Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Might be worth checking what his routine was before.
shefflas23 Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 they said he was fully trained that's the problem
Murphy Jnr Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 they said he was fully trained that's the problem I appreciate that but it's a possibility he's not also or that he's got used to going on a particular surface and off lead. Be patient, as Peaches said, he will learn.
