Lestat Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 The famous stage play has finally had a decent film version made starring none other than Daniel (Harry Potter) Radcliffe as the young lawyer Arthur Kipps who travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client's papers, where he encounters the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance. It's being described as 'The most chilling ghost story of them all' and is my favourite stage play it's always guaranteed to send a shiver down the spine. Take a look at the trailer HERE and see what you think. It's to be released in the UK on the 10th February.
Glennis Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Great, I love The Women in Black. I saw it on a Christmas Eve some years ago, it was on the TV - not sure which station it was on, but it must have been late 1980s. Its really, really creepy! Susan Hill wrote the book. I have tried to get it on DVD/VHS, but having purchased a copy, it didn't work on my video - so I claimed my money back. I think it was pirated copy, to be honest as they then told me to keep it and not post it back to them.
kirstyp86 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I can remember watching this when I was a little girl! Scared me like mad! Also, there was a film called ' The White Lady' or something, That was scary too!

I too have that copy on DVD at home but it drags abit and isn't half as scary as the play.. in the trailer above you catch a quick glimpse of the part where the rocking chair is rocking pretty violently, remember this in the theatre, it had the audience on edge and almost pooping themselves with the horrendous scream!.. Also, you can't imitate the bit she walks through the audience and you hear people yell with fright as they realise she has just passed them.. Still, this does look pretty good, can't wait to see it!!
Guest Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 'The Woman in Black' is one of my favourite ghost stories. Susan Hill is a master of the genre. I haven't seen the play, and I can't remember seeing anything other than of the 80s TV adaptation (zombie Miss Lemon!), so the text is relatively unsullied in my mind by anyone else's notion about what's creepy and disturbing; and believe me, the text is both of those, and then some. As such, I'm rather nervous about the upcoming film, especially as the trailer (the 'link' in the first post isn't a link, by the way) did its best to put me off: Harry Potter and the American Voice-Over.
