0742Sheff Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Fancied a fish finger buttie for tea today. I picked up Birds Eye ones by mistake but cooked them anyway. Every single one of them was full of dark, watery foul tasting 'mess'. I should have listened to the missus and made sure i bought Youngs.

tracyab Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 They have started using pollack in fish finger instead of cod and that's why i think they are not so nice looking
0742Sheff Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 You just got unlucky. Birds Eye are usually good noms. No they're not. It was a mistake to pick them up and a bigger mistake to think they would be any better than the last time we had them. They have started using pollack in fish finger instead of cod and that's why i think they are not so nice looking Or tasting...
kblade Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Birds Eye are usually great. Just not for fish fingers. I NEVER complain to companies but once got a mouth full of plastic and the next bone Never again
aardvark6535 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The last time (not so long ago) I picked up fish fingers, I soon put them down again because of the price, and the same with fishcakes - What a price - you know what type of fish they put in them, by that i mean you know it's not the best - so why the price. I'd rather make my own,
rabitter Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 saw a cooking programme on telly it was fish fingers being made at youngs factory was very clean and all fish used was nice cod.so i bought a pack and i must say they were very good with pure white fish they seem a bit dear but would rather pay extra for quality buy cheap and put it down for cat
0742Sheff Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 We've stuck to Youngs for a while now (since kblade found plastic in a Birds Eye fish finger), and never had any complaints. This time it was my own stupid fault for picking the wrong ones up without thinking about it. I sometimes call in to places like Jack Fultons and find they have very good offers on Youngs products.
mafya Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 We have the battered cod ones by birds eye and they taste nice, I had them for my tea earlier. mmmmm
