Mecky Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Here speaks the voice of the Handwringing Left Then VAT Man, ol slaphead, must be a leftie too
MrSmith Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Stay but much more integration, one government, one MEP per country, one set of laws for everyone, same benefits for everyone, free movement without pass ports. Work towards total integration with one language, one monetary system so Europe becomes one state.
Stoatwobbler Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Quite a stupid poll because everone knows what the answer is going to be considering the amount of RW nutjobs on here. I'm suprised by how tight it is....only 26-22 in favour of withdrawal at present!
Stoatwobbler Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 3rd option of "stay in the trading bloc, but not be part of the political bloc" perhaps I'd go for a 4th option. "Stay in but actively campaign for reform of the EU to make it more open and democratic, not to mention abolishing the Common Agricultural Policy." The EU is actually a complex issue and as such a simple yes/no does not always cut it.
Stoatwobbler Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 The very fact that they oppose EU membership is a good enough reason for me to vote yes. The enemy of my enemy is not nessessarily my friend.
andygardener Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I do find it odd when people describe those who desire the laws that govern what we can and cannot do be made by a democratically accountable national parliament which we can if enought of us choose to remove at the next election as daily mail reading fanatics. For those that think the eu is a cuddly liberal paradise it might be wise to remember than their token nod to democracy in the eurpean parliament, a body so huge and disparate it represents knowone and just rubber stamps commision decisions, out of 6 MEPs that represent yorkshire one is from the BNP and another from UKIP and 2 conservatives (one of whom since defected to the lib dems) - and that's in Yorkshire. Gross waste, fatcat salaries, widespread corruption and an endless appetite for more and more power are not things that are opposed by the right, they are things that should be opposed by anyone who values freedom, accountability of those who tell us how we can behave and getting value for money from our taxes.
wednesday1 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 It's never stopped you before. In terms of "stooping to the lowest level", you're the forum king! Awwwwwwwww poor Tory Boy! http://youtu.be/SeLSNzEorbI
wednesday1 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The enemy of my enemy is not nessessarily my friend. Tis in this case.
Hughg Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Hmmmm, We went into Europe with a Trade agreement, over the years this has morphed into devolving political power. The problem is the UK is the only EU country that enforces the mad EU laws on it's citizens. You don't think France, Spain and Germany take any noytice of Brussel's regulations do you ! I say go back to the trade agreement and ditch the politial control. H.
Fine line Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The very fact that they oppose EU membership is a good enough reason for me to vote yes. Your messiah wants the UK out of the EU, calling it "an anti-democratic gravy train which is eroding workers' rights". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7953438.stm
