pretty_big Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Pretty simple yes to stay in the EU and No to back out and become independant with no laws etc attached to Europe
green Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Pretty simple yes to stay in the EU and No to back out and become independant with no laws etc attached to Europe Id like a 3rd option. Lets have a debate about it, this is what a referendum should give us.
pretty_big Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 A third option of what? I was going to put the option "I'm not sure" but you don't get that option at the ballot box so couldn't see the point so it's simply yes or no unless anyone can think of a valid "other" option
chem1st Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I'd rather Yorkshire seceded from England (and London) in particular.
pretty_big Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 I have only set this up to see how the poll goes in reflection to 111 backbenchers who would have voted no on this poll.... I just want to get an idea of how locked into Europe our parliament REALLY is ?!!
andygardener Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 3rd option of "stay in the trading bloc, but not be part of the political bloc" perhaps Exactly spot on.
LeMaquis Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 3rd option of "stay in the trading bloc, but not be part of the political bloc" perhaps That's not an option. The UK could leave the EU and join the EEA like Norway. But we'd be bound by the same rules nevertheless. If we want to have the trade we have to play by the rules. I voted yes. The UK won't withdraw whatever some people demand but I enjoy the debate because the europhobes are left foaming at the mouth in a battle they can't win. These people are still living in the 19th century, talking about Britain being "great" again and being "independent" without defining what that means. I also notice they never call for independence from NATO, the WTO, US influence, etc. UKIP and the BNP even call for stronger ties with the US to counter loss of trade with the EU. So much for independence. So much for British nationalism.
Murphy Jnr Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I'd rather Yorkshire seceded from England (and London) in particular. I'm sure you'd get the backing of Londoners for that
ampersand Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I love Europe, the EEC, the Common Market - call it what you want I love it and would love stronger links, ties and co-operation between us - we should have joined the Euro years ago - if only because of all the upset and anguish it seems to cause so many posters on here
