the alleged incident is still being discussed in the media isnt it.

i heard john barnes discussing it on radio 5 live this morning.

he does not regard a racist comment said in the heat of the moment as racism in the true sense.---in fact he was sticking up for john terry.

But you still don't provide a logical reason to do so.

because i think bad behaviour on the pitch

encourages bad behaviour off the pitch.

There is no way he did this in my opinion...if he did then yes, let it be proved and give him all the punishment he needs...but many of his team mates are black and I can't believe for a minute that he would have said something like the allegation that's been thrown at him.

That is only true if you make them role models to begin with. It's no argument for claiming that they should be role models.

yes well lets hope he is innocent of this particular accusation.

or could it be that his team mates have chosen to turn a deaf ear for reasons best known to themselves.

final reply i'm tired of this thread now.

they should be role models because of the influence they have over the youngsters who hero -worship them so much, and to be fair i think most of the top proffessionals are.,and that is to be commended.

thats just my opinion.--and you have expressed your own very clearly.

I only lip-read the final part of the comments by John Terry when it was shown on the TV over the weekend.

The comments did look like he was saying the three offensive words he's accused of using.

However, just before those words are used, the view of his speech is obscured by another player coming between John Terry and the camera, so it is feasible that the player is obscuring the camera's view of him shouting the whole of what he claims he actually said, which was "I didn't call him a... <insert offensive phrase here>", responding to the referee.
